Some women have a lunch hour routine that never changes. Sandwich, phone, back to the desk.
Lucy is not one of those women. Her lunch hour is her own private project, and she has spent a lot of time over the years perfecting it. The right streets, the right times of day, the right balance between being seen and not being caught. It is a skill, and like any skill, it takes practice.
This set was shot on a different day from the previous one, but it has the same character. Lucy, on a busy city street, office wear, sheer pantyhose, and that particular walk she does when she knows there is a camera behind her but wants everyone else in the frame to think she is just another commuter. It is a very specific art form, and she is very good at it.
One of the things we have always liked about Lucy is that she does not need a big setup. She does not need fancy lighting or a dramatic location. A street corner in the middle of a working day is enough. She arrives, she finds a spot, she does her thing for a few minutes, and then she carries on with her afternoon. If anyone in the background notices anything, they never seem to know what to make of it.
The city itself is doing a lot of the work here. Buses, taxis, commuters, delivery vans, people standing outside shops checking their phones. All of it stacks up behind her and turns a fairly simple shot into a slice of a working day in a busy place. Take any single element out and the whole thing would feel flatter. It is the crowd that makes it.
